SERVICES

Many illnesses and states of "dis-ease" can be addressed safely and effectively using naturopathic medicine. Dr. Sarah Cimperman assesses every patient individually, reviewing specific symptoms and identifying risk factors. She combines the science of medicine with natural therapeutics:

The initial office visit is a comprehensive consultation. Dr. Cimperman will elicit a complete picture of each patient's present condition as well as review her or his medical history, family history, medications, supplements, diet and lifestyle. Individualized recommendations are created for the unique circumstances surrounding each case, addressing immediate needs as well as future goals and disease prevention. Dr. Cimperman acknowledges the patient as an active participant in her or his health care.

Although Dr. Cimperman was trained as a primary care physician, her practice in New York is limited to consultation because New York State does not yet license Naturopathic Doctors. She refers her patients to their primary care physician for physical examination, laboratory testing and pharmaceutical medications when she feels these are necessary.

For patients outside of the New York City area, phone consultations are available.

For patients in the New York City are who have difficulty traveling, home visits are available.

To schedule an appointment, please call 646-234-2918 or email .
    Clinical Nutrition
Many medical conditions benefit from specific foods, dietary protocols and nutritional supplements, which have fewer complications and side effects than many conventional treatments.
    Botanical Medicine
Plants are safe and effective medicines when used properly. Current scientific research has demonstrated that some plant substances are superior to synthetic drugs in some clinical settings. When plants are used as medicine, they can be very strong and have significant adverse effects if taken in the wrong concentration or under the wrong circumstances. Please consult a licensed practitioner knowledgeable in botanical medicine before using herbal supplements.
    Counseling and Stress Management
Mental attitudes and emotional states can be important aspects of health and illness. Naturopathic doctors are trained to recognize the important connection between the body and the mind.
    Lifestyle Coaching
Choices we make everyday affect our health and well-being. Patients are taught tools for living a healthy life and preventing minor illnesses from becoming more serious or chronic, degenerative diseases.
    Hydrotherapy
The therapeutic use of hot and cold water is a gentle treatment that increases circulation to affected areas, bringing nutrients, removing waste products, focusing the immune system and stimulating the body's ability to heal.
    Homeopathy
Homeopathic medicines act to strengthen the body's innate immune responses and seldom have side effects. This medical system is over 200 years old and is based on the principle that "like cures like." Substances that cause symptoms in large amounts are used therapeutically in small amounts to treat those same symptoms. Long standing physical and emotional challenges that have not responded well to conventional treatment may respond to homeopathic medicine. The efficacy of homeopathic medicines has been demonstrated in several controlled experiments. For more information, see "A controlled evaluation of a homeopathic preparation in the treatment of influenza-like syndromes" in The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1989, 27, 329-335.
    Detoxification
Personal detoxification programs may be recommended for specific conditions, or for general health and vitality. A detox cleanse helps the body to mobilize and eliminate toxins that our bodies have stored when they couldn’t be excreted. The program consists of a hypoallergenic diet, a supplemental rice protein powder containing the macronutrients and micronutrients necessary for detoxification, as well as supportive activities such as gentle physical exercise, breathing exercises and hydrotherapy (baths and saunas).
