ABOUT DR. CIMPERMAN
Dr. Sarah Cimperman is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians (NYANP). She is also the Newsletter Editor for the NYANP.
Education
Dr. Sarah Cimperman received her bachelor of arts in biomedical science from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in St. Cloud, MN. She spent her last undergraduate year studying in Toulouse, France before she returned to the United States and spent a year in graduate school while applying to medical school. The time she spent living in France, and her frequent visits, have inspired Dr. Cimperman's future goal of practicing medicine internationally.
She was part of the Social Responsibility Masters Program at SCSU. This unique program "examines the impact of power, resources, cultural standards, and institutional policies and practices on various groups in our society and develops active citizenship skills for participatory democracy."
She received her doctorate of naturopathic medicine (ND) from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
NCNM is the oldest accredited college of naturopathic medicine in the United States and trains holistic primary care physicians as practitioners of the most comprehensive of alternative medicine disciplines. The four-year accredited program provides post-graduate education in the basic and clinical sciences common to all medical education. Furthermore, it trains doctors in holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness. In addition to a standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic doctor is required to complete training in
Clinical nutrition
Botanical medicine
Psychology
Counseling
Physical medicine
Homeopathic medicine
Dr. Cimperman's clinical focus and expertise are in areas of clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle counseling, detoxification and women's health.

Background
Dr. Sarah Cimperman has long been interested in the well-being and longevity of women. She has worked with women escaping domestic violence for more than ten years, both as a volunteer and as a paid advocate specializing in crisis management.
For more than ten years Dr. Cimperman has also been active in community organizations such as the Clothesline Project. In 1995 she was one of 5 women to start a local chapter of the national Clothesline Project in Minnesota. The Clothesline Project is an artistic exhibition of
T-shirts made by women and children who survived violence and also by friends and family of those who did not survive. It gives voices to the experiences of those affected by violence. The Clothesline Project can be educational, shocking and emotional for the visitors who view the exhibition. It is therapeutic for the participants and encourages artistic expression and creativity as well as healing. "Organizations such as this are an integral part of community awareness and breaking the cycle of violence, which is essential for the wellness and longevity of women everywhere," comments Dr. Cimperman.
She served on the Board of Directors as well as several committees. Dr. Cimperman also provided advocacy and counseling for those who needed it while making T-shirts for the exhibition as well as for its viewers.
