She also writes a regular column for Wisdommagazine and two blogs, A Different Kind of Doctor, where she weighs in on current topics in health and wellness, and The Naturopathic Gourmet, where she posts healthy, original recipes.
In her private practice in Manhattan, Dr. Sarah consults with women, men, and children of all ages. She takes the time to really listen to every patient, fully understand complex issues, identify underlying causes of illness, and gain a true understanding of the whole person. She educates her patients about alternative and adjunctive options to conventional drugs and medical procedures, and supports them fully in their decisions. Because naturopathic doctors are not yet licensed in the state of New York, her practice in Manhattan is limited to consultation. Dr. Sarah holds a license as a naturopathic physician in the state of Connecticut and she hopes that licensure will come soon to New York.
Dr. Sarah sees every person as an individual and tailors her recommendations according to the unique circumstances surrounding each case. These may include guidelines for diet, exercise, nutritional supplements, botanical medicines (plant extracts), homeopathic remedies, home hydrotherapy treatments (using water), stress management strategies, and individualized detoxification programs.
Dr. Sarah has always had a special interest in the well-being of women. During the ten years she spent completing her undergraduate studies, graduate studies, and medical school, she worked with women escaping domestic violence, specializing in crisis management, and with community organizations like the Clothing Project and the Hambleton Project. She has been honored with the Excellence in Leadership Award and the Outstanding Feminist Leadership Award at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biomedical science.
